Encouraging a love of British wildlife and nature through stories
In an age of tablets, smartphones and on-demand entertainment, encouraging children to read for pleasure can sometimes feel like an uphill struggle. Research from the National Literacy Trust found that only one in three children and young people enjoy reading in their free time, while fewer than one in five read daily for pleasure. These are the lowest levels recorded since the charity began its survey twenty years ago.
